The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is without argument the most prestigious music awards in Ghana. held each year around August, the awards scheme rewards music artiste and persons whose contribution(s) in the industry cannot be done without.
Last year, the VGMA saw the ilk of Medikal, Kofi Kinaata, Celestine Donkor, Dope Nation, J. Derobie and Kofi Mole just to mention a few taking home the coveted award in their respective categories. Beyond the best artiste of the year categories, one other contentious category is the most popular song of the year.
The big question however is who makes it to the list of nominees and subsequently receive an award in the litigious category – Most popular song of the year.
Already, Ghanaians are jamming to Okyeame Kwame’s Yeeko. Adom by Diana Hamilton, Sarkodie’s happy day featuring Kuami Eugene and others.
It’s quite obvious the year has just started but it’s equally good to pre empt who could win the most popular song of the year later this year. in spite of the devastation by Covid-19, Ghanaian music artiste are working hard to stay afloat.
